Chimney Sweeping

Arguably our bread and butter, chimney sweeping (or chimney cleaning) is a critical part of chimney maintenance. It's one of the best things you can do to keep your chimney in the best shape possible, and extend its lifetime - not to mention keep your home safe. 

Chimney sweeping entails an inspection (to determine how much creosote and buildup exists within your fireplace) and a cleaning of the firebox itself, the flue, and associated components. 

Our Chimney Sweeps will arrive at your home or property, discuss the service, visually inspect your chimney, and arrange protective tarping/drop clothes or barriers to keep your floors around your hearth or stove clean. 

Next, we will work from the ground up with a HEPA-certified vacuum and carefully remove creosote buildup and deposits from your damper, smoke shelf, and firebox. We work with a specially manufactured chimney cleaning brush and attach it to a long pole as we clean upwards within the chimney. As material is dislodged from the chimney walls and liner, it is vacuumed up to avoid creating a mess, or introducing airborne matter back into your house. 

Finally, we inspect the chimney cap and complete our cleaning. With any cleaning service, our Chimney Sweeps will ensure that your chimney is in safe and optimal working condition. Should we spot any issues, we'll alert you to them, and make recommendations regarding repairs. Some work can be done immediately on the spot, while other tasks may require a follow-on appointment. 

Regardless, when we leave, your chimney will be clean and ready for another season's use. 

The entire cleaning process generally takes between 45 and 120 minutes, depending on level of buildup, the complexity of your chimney, and/or any damage we may find.
